I'm back from the dead!
It's been ages, but I wanted share my excitement for my latest comic book effort with you.
DC's WEDNESDAY COMICS shipped this past week (8/8/09), so I can finally share some DEADMAN art.
If your not familiar with WEDNESDAY COMICS it is a large newsprint format, unfolding to 14x 20 inches a page, and will ship weekly for three months.
Each issue contains 15 single page "strips" that continue thru all 12 issues.
I was fortunate enough to be asked to pitch in on the project, and immediately went for DEADMAN.
The character has had a few misfires over the years, but has so many interesting elements that I knew he could be, and SHOULD be resurrected. If you've never heard of DEADMAN or read one of his stories, fear not! We are including a brief but hopefully concise recap of his history on page one. The character has a unique combination of horror, mystery and superhero elements that make it stand apart from your run of the mill super jocks.
I'm providing the pencils and inks, as well as co-writing the DEADMAN story with good friend and talented animation Director Vinton Heuck. Dave Stewart is the maestro on color, and Jared Fletcher is kicking ass on the lettering.
Neal Adams, Carmine Infantino and Jose Garcia Lopez have been some of my favorite creators in comics for years, so naturally I've been a Deadman fan since I can remember.
I'm having the time of my career working with Mark Chiarello, Wednesday Comics Editor, and the whole team on DEADMAN.
I hope you guys enjoy the strip!
